Caloundra State Primary School in 2013 has continued to embark upon a strong focus on the Arts in semester two. Last term students participated in professional dance lessons and this term they are participating with local artist Scott Palmer in a visual art program. Scott has been working with students on the Sunshine Coast for many years and is an inspiring and well liked teacher. Students have been busting to be involved and the art they have produced is outstanding. All art pieces produced from these lessons will be displayed at the school Open Night on the 27th of August and possibly be in the running for year level and overall Art awards.
The Open night will also feature school bands, choirs, year level presentations and a performance by students involved in this year’s regional Wakakirri competition. Wakakirri is an Indigenous term that means “Story Dance” and Caloundra primary has been regional and state winners in previous years. The entire community is invited to attend the evening. All 480 students will have their work on display for all to see. It’s amazing how much a small school can produce.
